Domaine La Courtade Porquerolle

Lapped by the waves of the Mediterranean Sea and bathed by the generous sun of Southern France, Domaine de la Courtade enjoys a most remarkable situation on the island of Porquerolles.

The 35 hectares of vineyard are cherished and respected. Since 1997, they are tended to following the principles of organic agriculture.

The soil of the terroir is composed of schist and the Domaine benefits from an exceptional maritime climate that tempers temperature variations. The wines produced here are structured, well-balanced and complex.

Domaine de la Courtade is a true invitation to awaken one’s senses and proposes Côtes de Provence wines (Protected Designation of Origin) in three colours which very essence conveys the most beautiful expression of the island terroir.

History

The Domaine was founded by Henri Vidal in 1983 on the mythological and fertile land of the island of Porquerolles, in the heart of the plain of Courtade. The 35 hectares of vineyards bordered by the Mediterranean Sea received organic agriculture certification in 1997. Edouard Carmignac took over the Domaine thirty one years later, intent on conveying his love for nature and beauty through wine.

It is with this fresh impetus but with the same approach that Domaine La Courtade wines undergo a revival. Surrounding oneself with the best talents is essential and this is something that Edouard Carmignac understands well! Michel Couturier, vineyard manager since 1987 gave step by step all the secrets of the Domaine to a young people team directed by Florent Audibert, estate manager and oenologist. Son and grandson of a wine producing family he boasts extensive knowledge in this respect and arrived in 2015 to continue the history of the Domaine

In line with its history the vineyard is now engaged in a biodynamic approach with renewed energy.
