In 2012, the children of Henri Vidal handed over the old villa of La Courtade to the Foundation Carmignac with a project to transform it into a special place dedicated to Arts. After three years of work renovating it, the Villa Carmignac opened its doors to the public. In 2018, the exhibition Sae of Desire inaugurated this new space.
Since then every year, Edouard and Charles Carmignac have imagined a theme linked with the island and the latest news topics, and entrusted the exhibition to a curator who brings together artworks from the Fondation Carmignac, artworks lent to the foundation and artworks created on the spot especially for the exhibition.
Within the grounds of the Villa Carmignac, you will find the restaurant Le Poisson Ivre and the Domaine La Courtade which welcome you during your visit of the gardens to discover the terroir of Porquerolles.
L’Alycastre, the bronze statue at the entrance of the Villa Carmignac was created by the artist Miquel Barcelό, and is the totem of our cuvée La Courtade, a reference to the legendary monster of the island. Its representation on the black and white label shows the link between Contemporary Art and the vineyard.
Along with the exhibition, a cultural programme is also proposed to the public:
Creative workshops for children in July and August.
An artistic and audio trip in the gardens of the Villa Carmignac during the nights of the full moon between May and September.
A programme of open-air cinema every Thursday night in July and August
